Wynn Resorts reports increasing losses
US-based Wynn Resorts has announced increasing losses, despite an encouraging first two months since the opening of its Wynn Casino in Las Vegas.
Reporting its first-half results, the group said net loss during the six months to 30 June was US$73m (£41.2m, 59.7m euros), up from US$55m (£31m, 45m euros) in the same period last year.
During its first 64 days of operation, Wynn Las Vegas generated net revenues of US$201m (£113m, 165 euros), while occupancy per available room was 90.1 per cent.
The US$2.7bn (£1.4bn, 2.1bn euros) Wynn Las Vegas opened on 28 April and has 2,700 rooms and 111,000sq ft (10,300sq m) of gaming space. Details: www.wynnresorts.com
