We believe our facilities could be of great utility in helping our government test people as quickly as possible. We’ll work closely with local airport authorities on all plans.

Airport spa operator XpresSpa is joining the efforts to combat coronavirus by offering its airport locations to the US government as testing facilities.

XpresSpa is an airport spa service offering express nail, massage and hair blow-out services designed for busy travelling customers, with treatments completed in under 30 minutes.

The company is advancing conversations with coronavirus testing partners to develop a model for testing in US airports, including point of entry cities such as New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Miami, Atlanta and Washington DC.

The brand has reached out to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the US Department of Health and Human Services and private laboratories across the country.

XpresSpa claims it is ‘uniquely positioned to help in this fight’ and is prepared to offer all of its 46 airport locations across 23 airports into coronavirus testing facilities.

All testing will be done by appropriately licensed health professionals in accordance with applicable federal and state laws.

Doug Satzman, XpresSpa CEO, said: “We believe our facilities could be of great utility in helping our government test people as quickly as possible. We’ll work closely with local airport authorities on all plans.

“We believe we can help alleviate some of the long waits for testing for travellers entering the US but we can also be available to test Transport Security Administration (TSA) employees, pilots, flight attendants and other airport personnel who’re on the front lines.”

As a health and wellness company the majority of XpresSpa’s employees are state licensed which includes training in disease containment and in addition, employees are already TSA security approved so they can be trained and deployed immediately.

Currently, the majority of XpresSpa’s locations are in US airports, but the company also operates spas in Amsterdam's Schiphol and Dubai's International airports.
