Xscape Braehead to open as planned
X-Leisure chief executive PY Gerbeau has announced that the new Xscape Braehead near Glasgow will open as planned on 6 April.
According to Gerbeau, the collapse of a cinema ceiling on 7 March has not prevented construction in the rest of the building and has had no effect on the opening date.
“Clearly, the safety of our visitors is paramount, but we are pleased that we are able to open Xscape as planned” said Gerbeau.
The £60m Xscape Braehead is part of the Renfrew Riverside Partnership regeneration programme and includes a 170m snow slope and a 50m beginners’ slope – powered by 16 snow guns generating 1,500 tonnes of real snow.
Xscape will be managed by X-Leisure and will also host a multiplex cinema, 24 lanes of bowling, extreme sports including climbing walls and aerial assault course and a number of branded restaurants and bars. Details: www.xscape.co.uk
