Yorkshire CCC reports £2m pre-tax losses
Yorkshire County Cricket Club (YCCC) has announced that it will not be bidding to host an Ashes Test match in 2013 after reporting a £2m pre-tax deficit in 2010.
Speaking to the BBC, chair Colin Graves said it would not make "financial sense" for the county to try and secure one of the five matches between Australia and England. YCCC blamed poor ticket sales for the neutral Test between Pakistan and Australia last year for the losses, with just a quarter of the ground's 16,000 seats sold.
Graves said: "The neutral Test Match in July between Pakistan and Australia was an operational success, which provided much relevant learning for the game in staging such neutral matches in this country. "But nevertheless it created some significant financial challenges for the club which we had to take appropriate actions to remedy."
YCCC's announcement comes a couple of weeks after it was reported that Lancashire County Cricket Club was also poised to report losses of £2m last year.
