Now in its 24th year, the Young Chef Young Waiter Competition, organised by The Restaurant Association and British Hospitality Association is run in partnership with American Express, the Savoy Educational Trust, HSBC, CMA, San Pellegrino, Wild Harvest, Sodexo and Restaurant Magazine.

It is recognised as one of the leading contests to identify the rising stars of the industry. A recent search through past archives revealed that Marcus Wareing, head chef of Pétrus at the Berkeley Hotel was a past winner of the competition and thereare sure to be future winners who will emanate his success.

The winners of this year's Young Chef, Young Waiter Competition will be announced at the prestigious National Final Awards Dinner to be held at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower, Cadogan Place on Tuesday, 30 September 2008.

There will be a Champagne Besserat de Bellefon Reception followed by a Gala Dinner prepared by an award winning team of chefs.

Viewed by the trade as the industry's premier award, it is aimed at under 25's who are passionate about food and service. Selected from three regional heats, national finalists from many leading establishments in the UK will compete side by side at Westminster Kingsway College on 30th September under the watchful eye of Bruce Poole (Chez Bruce), Chair of Chef Judges and Stephen Mannock (Darlington College) (Chair of Waiter Judges) overseeing an unrivalled roll call of judges boasting a plethora of Michelin stars.
