The 2006 Australian Amusement, Leisure & Recreation Industry Conference, The Business of Having Fun, is an informative and entertaining industry designed to update and educate owners and operators with the latest and greatest in our industry from Australia and around the world.

This year's conference programme contains informative conference sessions including:

• Tracking trends, opportunities and challenges for our future • A panel discussion on transportable rides and the show circuit

• Customer service – have we got it right? We go back to the basics that work! • Claims contracts and customers, best practice in liability, incident and claim management

• Maximising profits with merchandising (food and beverage) • Strategic thinking and business planning

• Making events more meaningful • A panel discussion by state OH & S legislators

• Signage and safety for amusement rides and structures • E-Marketing – the online media revolution

• A panel discussion by industry operators on go-karting in Australia • The scaremaster – a case study on the fear factor in amusements

• Youth culture – marketing trends that turn young people on • Securing a place of mass gatherings (risk management and anti-terrorism strategies)

• A panel discussion on indoor play (also a review of the draft Australian standard for indoor play) • A panel discussion on staying one step ahead in the leisure industry (three case studies)

• A standard solution – shaping Australian Standards for your amusement, leisure or recreation business

On day three we participate in site tours to Warner Bros Movie World (a back of house tour of then new Superman Escapes attraction), Dreamworld (training and quality customer service), Sea World (animal adventure tour), Kingston Park Raceway (a behind the scenes look at all the go karting action)

To complement the conference program, VISA International Srl (exhibiting their Circus Swing ride), Lockers.com and Atomiq Pty Ltd are just some of the companies showcasing their products and services at this year's exhibitor showcase lounges.

There is a fun filled evening programme, starting on Monday with the AALARA board welcome drinks (poolside at Conrad Jupiters hotel and Casino), on Tuesday evening we travel to the new AUS$25m Australian Outback Spectacular for a show and dinner and on Wednesday evening we will enjoy a three-course dinner and dance the night away (and try your luck on the tables at Jupiters casino) at the annual AALARA gala dinner.

We look forward to seeing you at this year's conference. Don't miss this opportunity to network with other industry operators and find out what's new and what is happening throughout the industry.
