easyJet appoints new chief executive
Carolyn McCall of the Guardian Media Group has been appointed to succeed Andy Harrison as chief executive of budget airline easyJet.
A starting date is yet to be confirmed for McCall, who has held a number of positions at the media organisation, as well as directorships at Tesco and Lloyds Banking Group. McCall said: "My priority will be to build on easyJet's strengths: a strong consumer proposition, leadership positions in many of Europe's key airports, and an operating model built around simplicity and low cost."
Earlier this month, it was confirmed that Andy Harrison had been appointed to succeed Alan Parker as the chief executive of hospitality operator Whitbread.
