The 50-storey shangri-la Hotel, doha has opened in the Qatari capital, with 272 bedrooms as well as the brand’s signature CHI The spa.

The hotel’s Asian-themed spa includes eight treatment rooms decorated in shades of tangerine and apricot and featuring smooth wood and rich fabrics to accentuate the Asian design.

The spa features a unique outdoor hydrotonic pool, which guests can use before or after their treatments, and which aims to increase circulation and restore minerals, as well as reduce pain and muscle tension, and boost the immune system.

Treatments utilise the brand’s botanical extracts and aromatic essential oils, as well as Ila and Kerstin Florian.

The hotel also includes an aquamarine lagoon-shaped pool set on a 2,000sq m (21,528sq ft) deck surrounded by 70 leafy trees, as well as a health club with 24-hour fitness centre, sauna and steamrooms.

Designed to resemble a falcon’s head in recognition of Qatari falconry – the country’s historic past time – the hotel showcases museum-quality art pieces honouring the heritage of the Qatari peninsula, which are on loan from the Sheikh Faisal Collection.

Designed by H.O.K. Architects, the Shangri-La Hotel, Doha also includes 42 serviced apartments and seven restaurants, including one designed with distinctive arches, intricate laps and vividly coloured tiles to recreate a lively souk market.

In keeping with the traditional Arabian theme, guests are greeted by a falconer in traditional garb with a bird of prey perched on his arm, and are then presented with a cup of rich coffee made according to a nomadic recipe.
