£10m Wembley Arena Square launched
The £10m Arena Square, which opens out in front of Wembley Arena in London, has been officially launched.
The centrepiece of Arena Square is an interactive colour-changing fountain where visitors can choreograph their own water shows. The size of Leicester Square, the space will also provide the opportunity for entertainment and sporting, community and cultural activity.
The project was created by London-based designers Nicron Productions and Pyott, who were commissioned in 2003 to produce something to accompany the £35m refurbishment of Wembley Arena which reopened in April this year.
Nicole Ronson, managing director of Nicron Productions, said: “Although we have seen this type of multimedia special effect work in Europe for many years, Wembley is the first development in the UK that has the resources and the vision for this kind of ‘wow’ experience.
“Our work will add significant value to the regenerated Wembley and I hope that it will set a benchmark for UK developments.”
Pop star Madonna was at the official opening yesterday (1 August) and is playing a number of dates at the Arena. Details: www.pyott-nicron.com
