£150,000 boost for Blaenavon routes
Torfaen Council has secured £150,000 towards improvements to a number of walking and cycling routes across Blaenavon, South Wales.
A successful bid for Welsh Assembly Government funding through the South East Wales Transport Alliance (SEWTA) will enable the council to improve links between local attractions and the town. It is anticipated that upgraded signage and infrastructure will help walkers and cyclists benefit from better access to Big Pit, the Ironworks and World Heritage Centre.
Torfaen Council's interim executive member for neighbourhood services, John Cunningham, said: "The funding will provide a welcome boost for residents, cyclists, walkers and tourists in the Blaenavon area. The money will encourage healthy living and better link the tourist attractions in the town."
