£15m water park in the works for Fermanagh County
A £15m (US$22.65m, €17.49m) indoor water park could be in the works for Enniskillen in Northern Ireland, according to Fermanagh District Council.
According to a draft proposal, the facility could generate income for the council and would help to "diversify the tourism product" in the county.
The council have identified two possible locations for the water park, one being the Derrychara playing fields, the other being the Broadmeadow, close to Enniskillen and Castle Island.
A Crannog theme has been suggested for the facility, meaning it would be constructed over water on a partially or entirely artificial island.
In the draft proposal, it was predicted that the facility would "sustainably extend the tourism season in Fermanagh" and would build on the global media exposure gained by hosting the G8 in the county in June.
The proposal suggests that the wet-weather facility would likely become "a net generator of income for the council in the medium-term."
The report also says that the project would "do justice to the legacy of the G8 summit" if the plans went ahead.
