£1m funding for Scottish sports scheme
Three new synthetic sports pitches are to be installed in Dumfries and Galloway, following confirmation from the Scottish Government that £1m of funding is to be made available.
An initial £600,000 had already been earmarked as part of the CashBack for Communities programme towards two of the pitches as part of a nationwide £5m grassroots investment. First Minister Alex Salmond has now revealed that a further £400,000 will be invested by sportscotland towards a third pitch. Stranraer, Annan and Dumfries are to benefit.
The total cost of the project is £1.5m, with Dumfries and Galloway Council working with sportscotland to meet the additional funding requirements.
