£2m Dundee scheme set to move forward
Plans for the development of a new £2m regional gymnastics centre in Dundee are set to take a step forward next week, with councillors to be asked to approve a tender for the scheme.
A recommendation to accept a £1.72m tender amount from Hadden Construction will be put before members of Dundee City Council's (DCC) recess sub committee on 1 August. Including other allowances, the total cost of altering and converting the current sports facility on Old Glamis Road will be £1.98m. Sportscotland has already confirmed a £1.2m grant.
Proposals will see the existing building revamped to house specialist gymnastics equipment, which will allow training for national and regional competitors, as well as grassroots users. DCC leader Ken Guild said: "This is a major development in the plans to provide a superb facility that will directly benefit people in the city."
