£30k boost for West Lancashire facilities
West Lancashire Community Trust (WLCT) has been awarded a £30,000 grant to help improve disabled facilities at sports centres in Ormskirk and Skelmersdale.
The trust, which operates facilities on behalf of West Lancashire Borough Council (WLBC), will carry out improvements at Ormskirk's Park Pool and the Nye Bevan Pool in Skelmersdale. Funding will be used to install rise and fall beds, tracked lifting systems and access systems such as hoist, while a unused storeroom at the Nye Bevan pool will be transformed into a disabled changing room.
WLCT secured the grant from charity Aiming High for Disabled Children, which will enable work to get underway later this summer. WLBC portfolio holder for community services and health Andrew Fowler said: "We hope that the provision of these enhanced facilities will not only help disabled users but will also encourage additional usage of facilities by them at both centres."
