£335m Caesars casino resort for Wembley?
Wembley developer Quintain and US gaming group Caesars have formed a joint venture to create a 650,000sq ft casino resort at the north London site, called Caesars Wembley.
Caesars will operate the £335m ($600m) resort, which will include a luxury casino, a 400-room luxury hotel, convention space, a spa and swimming pool and a selection of restaurants, bars and lounges.
The resort development is subject to planning permission from Brent Council and the proposed reform of the British gambling laws going ahead. However, Brent Council and the Greater London Authority have already identified Wembley as a key leisure destination area.
If the facility is greenlighted, it will become part of a proposed £1.3bn regeneration of the 42-acre site adjacent to Wembley National Stadium.
Last month, the arch of the new stadium was set in place. Construction of the stadium – which is pivotal to London’s 2012 Olympic Games bid – continues on schedule while the 2006 FA Cup will be the first event to be hosted at the stadium. Details: www.quintain-estates.com
