£4m culture programme for Glasgow 2014
A £4m cultural programme is set to launch in Glasgow and across Scotland during the run up to the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
The £4m Glasgow 2014 Cultural Programme Open Fund is the result of a partnership between Glasgow 2014, Creative Scotland and Glasgow Life. It will be used to build momentum for the event and during the Games.
The latest investment is expected to play an important role in enhancing the experience for spectators as well as showcasing Glasgow and Scotland's culture to visitors.
Individual artists, community-led groups and arts organisations have been invited to apply for awards ranging from £20,000 to £300,000 through the scheme.
Projects can be new and one-off events or enhancements of an existing festival or programme of work. Proposals should demonstrate a connection to the Games or significant Games milestones.
Most of the cultural activities are set to take place between June and the end of August 2014.
David Grevemberg, chief executive of Glasgow 2014, said: "We want passion and drama off the field of play - an exciting, ambitious and accessible programme of cultural events.
"Scotland's largest ever sporting and cultural event will be the perfect stage to showcase the creativity of the nation as we take Scotland to the Commonwealth and celebrate Commonwealth cultures on home soil."
