£4m profit for Ramsay
Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay’s Michelin-starred restaurant portfolio has returned a pre-tax profit of £3.8m for 2004, following losses of £1.04m in the previous year.
His restaurants include London’s Gordon Ramsay at Claridges Hotel – which alone returned a pre-tax profit of £1.4m – and The Connaught.
His Gordon Ramsay Holdings company also includes joint ventures in the capital with Marcus Wareing at The Berkeley and The Savoy Grill.
According to returns filed at Companies House, Ramsay paid himself a salary of just under £300,000 and employs a total of 668 staff.
During the period, Ramsay closed the Amaryllis restaurant in Glasgow and one of his London sites – Fleur, on St James’ Street – at considerable cost.
During last year, Ramsay also fronted Hell’s Kitchen, where he supervised celebrities attempting to learn to cook and a Channel 4 series, in which he offered advice to struggling restaurateurs.
