£600k injection for Edinburgh sports facilities
The City of Edinburgh Council (CEC) has announced a £600,000 cash injection for sports pitches and pavilions in the city, which will go towards maintenance and new equipment.
Around 20 properties across the Scottish capital will receive a share of £360,000 towards a programme of improvements, including essential health and safety work.
Football, rugby and cricket has been allocated £125,000 towards the acquisition of portable goals, practice nets, mobile floodlighting, pitch fencing and storage containers.
The council also earmarked £70,000 for the of purchase grounds maintenance equipment to help enhance the quality of pitches and £45,000 for additional pitch improvement work.
CEC strategic development manager Stephanie-Anne Harris said: "This investment will have a positive impact on outdoor sport right across Edinburgh."
