Location: One of five Leisure Centres across the New Forest - Applemore, Totton, Lymington, New Milton and Ringwood.

New Forest District Council is looking to recruit up to 5 motivated and professional shift managers to join our teams at our Centres around the New Forest. We have recently reviewed our Management rotas and will be moving from a 3 week shift manager rota to a 4 week rota with a flexi week.

Our health and leisure centres are modern and well equipped having benefited from a long term capital investment programme and all have excellent equipment including life fitness gym equipment. Our centres also have exciting Group exercise programmes including Les Mills, popular Swim Academies and a wide range of activities for all ages and abilities.

Shift Managers are operationally in charge of the Leisure Centre when on duty, and will require strong people management skills, high standards of customer focus, and a willingness to 'think on your feet'. The ability to take charge and remain calm in emergency situations is a must.

Shift Managers may also be responsible for other areas of the business such as children's birthday parties, swim academy or technical areas.

We can offer a competitive salary, generous leave entitlement and pension scheme, free parking and a commitment to developing individuals to their full potential through mentoring and more formal management training

Essential Criteria
* Applicants must have a minimum of two years' experience in a similar environment with at least one year's experience supervising teams.
* An NVQ level 3 in Leisure is highly desirable but a proven track record is essential and candidates will be asked to demonstrate this at interview.
* Strong IT skills are also essential.
* You will also be required to demonstrate a good swimming ability including lifesaving skills.
* The successful applicant will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check prior to appointment.
* An NPLQ Qualification is essential for the role- we will offer this training for the right candidate if required.

The Shift Manager will work a 4 week rota pattern which will consist of a mix of early and late shifts including weekends.

What we can offer in return is a great place to work and a great team to work with. We believe that all employees make a valuable contribution to the work of the council and that is why we encourage a trusting and open culture where each employee is supported and respected equally, ideas are actively sought and self-development promoted.

If you would like an informal chat about the job please contact Joanne Bailey, Service Manager on 02380 285588

CVs will not be accepted without a fully completed application form. Please put your preferred Leisure Centre location your application.
