About The Role
As a dynamic and innovative Operations Trainer, you will help to create lifelong memorable experiences in our attractions for our guests. Job description:
Position Summary:
The aquarist internship position at the SEA LIFE Aquarium at LEGOLAND California Resort assists the Displays Team with the routine husbandry and maintenance required for its marine and freshwater exhibits. This intern will exhibit a strong work ethic, willingness to learn and work to a high standard of animal care and ethics. This position is a training ground for future paid positions in the department, such as a husbandry assistant or a level 1 Aquarist position. This position does not require diving experience, but a rescue dive certification is preferred. Also, up to date CPR/First Aid/AED/O2 training will put the candidate at a great advantage.

Scope and Responsibilities:
1. Assist the Displays staff with the animal care, cleaning and maintenance of aquarium displays, which may require snorkel or scuba diving (i.e. 200,000 gallon tropical ocean display).
2. Assist the Displays staff with diet preparation, feeding and general husbandry of aquarium exhibits as directed.
3. Maintain and prepare accurate daily records for aquarium systems, exhibit specimens, and husbandry related paperwork.
4. Maintain equipment to the standards and expectations of SEA LIFE policies and protocols.
5. Participate in specimen transports, water quality testing, quarantine, diagnosis and treatment of fish disease.
6. Deliver interactive programming to guests and guest presentations involving displays and exhibit diving.

Details of the program:
- Internships are organized in which the intern will learn about the following areas of marine science and animal husbandry:
- Animal Nutrition (diet, nutrition)
- Husbandry Maintenance (tools, exhibit upkeep) - Program Animals (reptile collection)
- Water Quality/Chemistry (water quality testing, nitrogen cycle)
- Life Support Systems (pumps, plumbing, filtration)
- Laboratory (microscope use, animal necropsy, sampling)
- Quarantine (treatment diagnosis, protocols, disease)
- Scuba Diving (gear setup, safety, diving with venomous animals)
- Taxonomy (general taxonomy)
- Public Presentations (shark and ray talk, jellyfish show, dive show)
- Final project (TBD by staff or individual depending on the needs of the SEA LIFE team)

Background and Experience:
- No extensive background is needed, but a credited program is required to apply for this position (for both high school and college credit).
- For college internships, a background in Biology or related marine biology field is required. A mentor and a project will be assigned to the intern.
- For high school internships, an interest in marine biology is required with a passion to work hard and learn. A mentor will be assigned, along with a project to be assigned by the staff.
- Students must have an interest in learning about and understanding the science of aquarium biology, fishes and invertebrates.

Education:
A High School diploma or general education degree (or equivalent education and experience) is required. Candidates working towards or possessing a two to four-year degree in Biology or a related field at an accredited academic facility is preferred. Students with a post-bachelor certification (i.e. aquarium science program) are also encouraged to apply and will be given more advanced tasks.

Other Requirements:
For college interns, a scuba certification is preferred in rescue diving or above from a recognized recreational or commercial diver training agency. The candidate will have an ability to maintain a clean/organized work environment and the ability to work effectively with limited or no supervision, and maintain a work ethic supporting the Aquarium’s mission and goals. Preferred candidates will hold a current First Aid and CPR certification. The candidate should be willing to work weekends and keep flexible hours.

About The Role
The Technician is a vital role to Team Merlin to ensure that all the fun and magic is being delivered at optimal level. On a daily basis, the Technician assists with the planned and reactive maintenance throughout the attraction to ensure the day-to-day operation is running smoothly, safely, and efficiently. Working with the Technical team, you will be responsible for maintaining all aspects of the attraction including the rides, cinema, equipment, and machinery.

Responsibilities:
* Maintain, repair and troubleshoot all aspects of the physical plant/facility equipment and machinery including HVAC, electrical, hydraulic and plumbing systems as well as rides and themed attractions.
* Able to utilize hands-on knowledge and experience to solve problems to sustain minimal downtime of rides and themed attractions for the maximum guest experience.
* Position functions will include: custodial duties, re-lamping & lighting systems, painting and wall repair, food and beverage equipment, shipping and receiving as well as exhibit setup and takedown.
* Complete defined preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on a scheduled basis.
* Perform minor plumbing maintenance on existing systems (e.g. unclog toilets and drains, repair leaks in drains, and replace toilets and faucet fixtures as needed).
* Perform routine painting as necessary to maintain like new condition (e.g. repair a hole in dry-wall, prep the area, and match paint).
* Perform minor electrical maintenance within state law requirements (e.g. repair or replacement of fixtures, wall switches, and outlets. Replace light bulbs, ballasts and sockets if necessary).
* Responsibility to ensure compliance of Health, Safety & Security within the workplace and in line with the Group Policy (HS001).
* Perform other duties as assigned.

About You
* You will be highly self-motivated with previous maintenance experience, ideally hold a professional qualification in a mechanical or electrical field with experience maintaining a wide range of equipment including rides.
* Minimum of 2 years of service industry experience in a technical/themed environment; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
* Experience in maintenance, trouble-shooting, and repair of mechanical and electrical systems preferred.
* Demonstrated ability to perform the activities and responsibilities as described including related work experience.
* Ability to use and operate hand and power tools in order to complete activities.
* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
* Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Rutland Water Park offers a range of activities for all to enjoy. Acres of beautiful countryside surrounds the reservoir where school groups, the general public and sports clubs visit to take part in the various water sports that are on offer.

We are looking for Watersports Instructors to work at Rutland Water and provide tuition and general assistance to our visitors.

Our visitors can hire rowing boats, canoes and kayaks and take part in raft building and power boating. As a Watersports Instructor, your key responsibility is to ensure all visitors are enjoying their time at the Park whilst remaining safe.

Working on a casual basis during busy periods, mainly at the weekends and during school holiday periods, you will be paid a competitive hourly salary and become part of the great Rutland Water Team.

You will receive in-house training, an annual car parking pass to use at our Water Parks and discounted rates on many of the activities at the Park.

Requirements:

-You’ll have a keen interest in watersports and have experience in a similar role and want to share your enthusiasm with our visitors.

- It’s advantageous if you have a First Aid qualification and/or watersports qualifications.

If successful you would be issued with a flexible zero hour contract, therefore shift patterns and rotas vary, dependent on the need of the Water Park and your availability.

Contributes to marketing and advertising strategies through the utilization of research information and contact management. Assists in the development of sales materials for targeted markets and special projects. Develops promotions within the industry to increase visibility, increase sales, and maintain a high profile in the tourism community locally and domestically.

- Formulates, plans, develops and implements a strategic multi-level sales and marketing campaign targeted to the hospitality industry. Develops budgets and aligns programs and activities to support marketing and business objectives through effective program development, coordination, and utilization of internal and external resources.
- Sets sales targets and negotiates marketing placements with each client. Conducts frequent visits to make sure targets are being met. Develops strategies to increase sales and meet targets.

About You:
- Requires at least two years of progressive experience in the tour or travel field with a theme park, hotel/resort, travel agency or related industry.

- Requires strong tour and travel contacts (local, regional, national) with an in-depth understanding of the travel industry.
