BTA lists online entry criteria
The British Tourist Authority (BTA) is highlighting 100 commercial sites where users can book online, but insists entries must meet BTA's 'strict' criteria for inclusion.
The BTA wants to give direct support to all the different organisations who have progressed to online bookings backed by genuine online availability, commented David Quarmby, BTA's chair.
An applicant wishing to register on the BTA site must ensure secure encryption. At least 75 per cent of the product shown at the URL must be British, or non-British products are not to be prominent. However the BTA insists VisitBritain has an international audience: 'sites that sell only to UK customers are excluded.'
Accommodation must be inspected by designated bodies, or be of a 'requisite quality.'
Website operators can check criteria on www.visitbritain.com/bookonline.
