Branson retreats to Babylon
Sir Richard Branson is opening his first wholly-owned restaurant next month at Kensington's luxurious Roof Gardens venue. Babylon covers 4,500sq ft on the seventh floor of the Roof Gardens and will serve lunches and dinners for up to 120 guests, as well as a private dining room and private terrace for 12 people. Developed under the guidance of Raymond Blanc, head chef Vincent Hiss will cook up 'modern British' cuisine based on fresh herbs grown on the restaurant's terrace. Dishes will include stilton soufflé with dandelion, rocket and hazelnut dressing and fillet of brill, pan-fried with clams. Average spend per person is £35 for dinner, but an introductory three-course set lunch will be available until the end of August for £18.50 per person. Babylon opens next month.
