Free fitness classes for youngsters at Mildenhall leisure centre
The Dome Leisure Centre in Mildenhall, Suffolk, is offering youngsters in the area the chance to join free fitness classes using both SHOKK's new Multi Player Dance System and Nintendo Wiis.
The courses are part of a programme called Sport Unlimited which is being run in partnership with the Youth Sports Trust and Suffolk Sport and aims to get 300,000 participants to join clubs and then continue regular physical activity. Anglia Community Leisure has set up its free courses for 14- to 16-year-olds at Mildenhall Leisure Centre to let local teenagers try something that is considered fun rather than traditionally sporty.
In addition to the dance mat and Wii classes, youngsters can also try their hands at yoga. Students who complete 60 per cent of a course will be rewarded and encouraged to continue staying active by receiving a £5 voucher which can be redeemed for sport and physical activity sessions across the whole of Forest Heath.
If the courses prove successful, they will be rolled out to Brandon and Newmarket Leisure Centres in early 2009.
