Gladstone Park to get upgrade
Brent Council has earmarked £1.2m to upgrade sports facilities at Gladstone Park in north London.
The redevelopment of the park will include the installation of new football and rugby pitches and a new artificial cricket pitch, as well as the building of new changing rooms.
The old hard courts will also be resurfaced and transformed into a multi-use games area capable of hosting a range of sports.
The scheme is the result of a partnership between Brent Council and the Gladstone Park Consultative Committee (GPCC).
Funding for the improvements came from the council, the Big Lottery Fund, the Football Foundation and the London Marathon Charitable Trust.
John Hoskins, chiar of GPCC, said: "It's been a long term effort to get these new facilities, but we are almost there and I can;t wait to see people using and enjoying them."
The 97-acre Gladstone Park also houses the Stables Arts Centre & Gallery and two cafés.
