A new £23m leisure centre in Hampshire has been given the green light by Hart District Council, with the site set to open its doors in April 2017.

Designed by GT architects, the new centre will be delivered through Scape Group’s Major Works framework with Willmott Dixon. The leisure centre at Hitches Lane in Fleet is at the edge of a new country park that will be completed in 2017, and the building has been designed so that its architecture ‘blends seamlessly’ into the natural surroundings.

Everyone Active will operate the facility when it opens, and has also been chosen to operate existing nearby leisure centres Frogmore and Hart. The new site will include three swimming pools, a 120-station gym, a climbing wall, coffee shop, multiple sports pitches and a sports hall. Details of the gym are still being finalised.

David Bibby, managing director of Everyone Active, said: “We are thrilled to be appointed as chosen operator for the Hart District Council contract, which will be a fantastic addition to our expanding portfolio.

“The new leisure centre build will be a wonderful addition to the area and we look forward to working with Hart District Council to help increase participation in activity for the whole community.”
