Strategic review for London
The London Tourist Board and Convention Bureau (LTB) has formed a strategic partnership with the London Development Agency (LDA) to ensure tourism plays a greater role in the economic development of the capital.
Funded by the DCMS, the Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, and the LDA, the LTB will promote London to overseas visitors and as a gateway to the UK, and will develop and improve the quality of visitor experience in London during 2001/2.
The LDA and LTB will also conduct an independent strategic review of tourism in the capital, which will be co-ordinated by Locum Destination Consulting.
The review is due to be completed by the end of 2001 and the new strategy to be developed at the beginning of 2002.
Chair of the LTB, Teresa Wickham, praised the alliance: The review and subsequent strategy will ensure that the opportunities for the industry, Londoners and visitors are maximised and London's status as a World City is enhanced.
