General Manager Carn Brea Leisure Centre

Carn Brea Leisure Centre

Cornwall’s largest Leisure Centre in the heart of the community. A true community focused facility that seeks to provide good quality affordable leisure facilities across a wide range of activity types and sporting pursuits.

The Carn Brea Vision –  ‘A friendly, well managed and vibrant leisure Centre at the heart of a strong and healthy community’

The Past

Carn Brea Leisure Centre first opened its doors to the public in 1974, and in 2000 the Centre became the County’s first independent Charitable Trust leisure centre following a transfer from Kerrier District Council.

The Present

In the present day the Centre provides sport and leisure facilities to over 600,000 visitors each year, and is consistently recognised as running the most cost effective Leisure Centre in Cornwall and the South West with excellent, motivated and experienced management and staff.
Covid 19
Whilst certainly a challenging period for all and with Leisure provision across many regions being significantly affected, the close knit Carn Brea team have worked hard throughout each stage of restrictions across the opening and closing, abiding by restrictions and endeavouring to give the customer base the best possible experience whilst acting responsibly and indeed with safety in mind. The Management team sought grant funding across a number of platforms to ensure as far as possible stability and sustainability for the Centre’s future and continue to serve the needs of its customers as restrictions were eased.

The Trust is committed to ensuring that high quality sustainable leisure facilities remain an essential component of the regeneration of the Camborne, Pool, Illogan and Redruth area (CPIR), and the management team are actively pursuing ways in which to ensure the Centre’s future and development.
