Edinburgh Leisure raises £6,000 for Breast Cancer Research
At the end of September, Edinburgh Leisure’s Gracemount Leisure Centre held a number of events to raise money for Breast Cancer Research, including a 24-hour sponsored swim.
More than 130 people of all ages signed up for 20-minute swims and helped raise more than £6,000.
The centre also hosted activities including ‘come and try’ aquafit, swimfit, lifeguarding and sea scooters as well as bouncy boxing, sumo wrestling, face painting, beat the goalie, football speed shot and sponge throwing. All events cost £1, which went to the charity.
Edinburgh Leisure’s Claire Rusack, who organised the fundraising, said: “We are absolutely delighted with the amount raised so far – £6,000 and counting! Our thanks go to all those who took part, whether they be the swimmers and their many sponsors or those who came along to support our Fun Day. Also, a huge thank you to those local businesses who gave so generously to our appeal for prizes."
