Starwood Hotels to build three hotels in Mecca
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has signed an agreement with Jabal Omar Development Company to open three new hotels in the Holy City of Mecca (Makkah) in Saudi Arabia.
The hotels - which will form part of the Jabal Omar Development project in the central area of Mecca - will add 1,496 rooms to the city under the company's various brands, Sheraton, Westin and Four Points.
The new hotels will include the 532-room Sheraton Makkah Hotel, 513-room Westin Makkah Hotel and 451-room Four Points by Sheraton Makkah Hotel.
Sheraton Makkah has a dedicated gym and training facility from Sheraton Fitness Programmed by Core Performance, while the Westin Makkah has a Heavenly Spa and WestinWORKOUT fitness facility with state-of-the-art equipment.
All three hotels have dining options, business facilities and meeting and function rooms.
The Jabal Omar Development is a 230,000sq m (2,5msq ft) mixed-use development in Mecca and will comprise of 38 high rise buildings including 26 hotels and over 11,000 rooms.
