£1.9m grant for Scottish landscape partnership
A five-year programme designed to conserve the natural and built heritage of the Clyde and Avon Valley in Scotland has received £1.9m from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).
The confirmation of Lottery support is set to generate £3m of matched funding towards the South Lanarkshire Council-led Clyde and Avon Valley Landscape Partnership.
A total of 10 public and charitable organisations will work together with local communities and landowners to manage native woodland and create new training opportunities.
Colin McLean, head of the HLF in Scotland, said: "The Clyde and Avon Valley's inherent beauty needs to be managed if we are to prevent it from becoming overgrown, inaccessible and unable to sustain our indigenous species.
"The Landscape Partnership programme does just that, and more. What communities have often already started on a small scale, HLF is delighted to take forward."
