816 Gym to open in the New Forest
New Forest District Council is set to open its first youth gym at its Applemore Health and Leisure centre on 19 December.
Located in a former squash court, and converted at a cost of £80,000, 816 Gym is located on a mezzanine floor adjacent to the centre’s main 70-station gym, Profiles.
Equipped by SHOKK, the gym – which is for use by young people aged 8-16 – will feature mini treadmills, steppers and bikes as well as free weights, stability balls and punch bags.
It will also offer a range of personal programmes and fun courses and is developing dedicated sessions for schools and children with disabilities.
Facilities at Applemore include three studios, Reflections Health Suite – which was extended last year to include a new sauna, steamroom, monsoon shower and relaxation area – a six-court sports hall and two swimming pools.
Last month, the centre received Inclusive Fitness Initiative accreditation.
