A new look for Kettering fitness centre
The fitness centre at Kettering Swimming Pool has undergone a £160,000 revamp funded by Kettering Borough Council and Parkwood Leisure.
The facility, which will open on 3 September, has been made accessible to people with disabilities. It is also kitted out with Precor fitness equipment and the changing rooms have been rebuilt.
Kettering Borough Council invested £77,000 for the renovation, with Parkwood Leisure topping up another £3,000 and supplying £80,000 for the new equipment.
Leisure and cultural services manager at Kettering Borough Council, Michael Cowland said it was great to see the facility catering for people with disabilities.
“The facility was old and rundown and wasn’t very accessible to anyone in a wheelchair. It is now a lot more open, with double doors for wheelchair access and disabled changing rooms. It is a lot brighter and more inviting for all.”
