AFC Telford United extends stadium lease
AFC Telford United has confirmed that it has safeguarded the long-term future of football at the town's Bucks Head Stadium after agreeing a 150-year lease with the local authority.
The deal, which will see the club pay a peppercorn rate to site owner Telford and Wrekin Council (TWC), has also ensured that a number of local football-based community initiatives will continue to operate. TWC leader Andrew Eade said: "Telford and Wrekin Council has been working very closely with AFC Telford United to ensure a structured borough-wide strategy is in place to develop football in the community while supporting the club's efforts to win promotion to the Blue Square Premier and ultimately the Football League."
AFC Telford United chair Lee Carter added: "This is the first step along what we believe will be a very exciting road and gives us a base which will enable us to announce a number of other follow on developments in the next few months."
