Active Southampton campaign launched
A new campaign to get more people active in Southampton has been launched.
The Active Southampton initiative is a partnership between the City Council, Southampton City Primary Care Trust, local universities, Southampton Football Club, Solent Youth Action, Southampton Voluntary Services, Hants & IOW Youth Options and colleges.
It aims to show that being active doesn’t need to be hard work, and is supported by round-the-world sailor Dee Caffari, Olympic diver Peter Waterfield and BBC sports reporter Roger Johnson.
Jayne Ludden, chair of the Active Southampton partnership, said: “The launch of Active Southampton represents a key step in our work to get Southampton more physically active. We want people to use the new website to find out about all the opportunities to get active in the city, and help Southampton become known for its healthy residents and places to get active.” Details: www.activesouthampton.co.uk
