Additional £2m for London sports projects
London mayor Boris Johnson has announced that a further £2m is to be made available for a range of community sports projects across the capital.
Last year, the first round of the mayor's Sports Participation Fund saw £2.4m shared by 18 schemes with winning bidders receiving grants worth between £50,000-250,000. Applicants to the latest £2m round of funding, which is open until 6 May. will be judged on three criteria, including schemes that increase participation.
Sports projects taking a "holistic" approach to community development and those that aim to deliver activities to young people considered to be 'at risk' could also receive support. Johnson said: "I urge community groups who through sport, want to help bring real and lasting change and address genuine local needs, to apply for our fund."
