Adopt a School wins praise
As the number of schools participating in the Fitness Industry Association’s (FIA) Adopt a School exceeds 200, teachers have sung the praises of the programme and the FIA members.
Hertford Vale Primary School head teacher Cecily Simpson said: “We know how important it is to educate pupils about the importance of being healthy and developing lifelong healthy habits, which is why we look for creative ideas to help us achieve this. Adopt a School stood out as having real potential to get the children excited about being active.”
The school – which partners with Eden Health and Fitness in Scarborough – has won the National Healthy School Standard, lead by the Department for Education and Employment and the Department of Health. It is given to schools which invest in the health of pupils to assist in raising achievement.
