Bathing facility operator Aire Ancient Baths has partnered with strategic investor Khemia to accelerate its plan to expand internationally.

Khemia has become a minority shareholder of Aire Ancient Baths. The funds (details of which remain undisclosed) will facilitate the progressive opening of new bathing facilities in selected international markets.

Amadeo Serra, CEO of Aire Ancient Baths, said: “Our goal is to accelerate our international growth. We want to take advantage of all the opportunities the market offers us. Bringing in Khemia as a shareholder allows us to strengthen our capital structure and face the next growth phase with a solid financial position. Khemia is a business with a long-term vision aligned with ours, which fully supports our strategy and provides a solution totally adapted to our needs.”

Tomás de Heredia, CEO of Khemia, said: “Aire Ancient Baths is a unique asset. It is the global leader in its sector, has a very solid competitive position, significant growth potential and great value creation capacity.”

Aire Ancient Baths

Aire Ancient Baths was founded in 2001, with its first bathing facility in Seville in Spain. The concept takes inspiration from Greek, Roman and Ottoman traditions.

The company’s network of wellness facilities comprises 10 properties in nine cities in Europe and North America. Each one offers hydrotherapy bathing circuits and body treatments within architecturally similar settings.

The current locations:

In the North America –

  • New York, US (Tribeca and Upper East Side locations)
  • Chicago, US
  • Toronto, Canada

In Europe –

  • Seville, Spain
  • Barcelona, Spain
  • Vallromanes, Spain
  • Almería, Spain
  • Copenhagen, Denmark
  • London, UK

Aire Ancient Baths says it employs more than 1,100 people and serves hundreds of thousands of guests each year across its portfolio of locations.
