Aylesbury Vale District Council transfers management of leisure centres to trust
Aylesbury Vale District Council has transferred the management of its two leisure centres to a community trust.
The Aylesbury Vale Community Trust, an independent not-for-profit organisation, will now manage the Aqua Vale in Aylesbury and Swan Pool in Buckingham.
The centres, which will still be owned by the council, will continue to be operated on a day-to-day basis by Serco.
The trust is run by a board of trustees, which includes three district councillors and six independent representatives of the local community.
Miles Buckinghamshire, chair of the trust, said: “Residents and users will have a direct influence in the operation of the centres with faster decision making.
“The change in status also means that there are other funding and business opportunities that open themselves up.”
