BG invests in science
British Gymnastics (BG) is to join forces with the English Institute of SPort (EIS) in order to develop sport science and medical services within BG's elite athletes programme.
Links between the two bodies will be confirmed in a Partnership Agreement, which will include a Memorandum of Understanding as to how the two organisations will work and what they should expect of each other.
As part of the plans, Louise Fawcett has been appointed EIS's new head of sport science and medicine for gymnastics, coordinating support services for the Olympic Performance programme.
Fawcett has spent the last 11 years working full time in high performance sport, previously as a senior physiotherapist for the World Class Badminton programme, Lead Physiotherapist for the national Women’s Football teams as well as more recently at Liverpool Football Club.
Tim Jones, British Gymnastics Performance Director said: “The partnership that we are developing with the EIS will be of considerable benefit to British Gymnastics and our Olympic Programmes.”
