BOA appoints chief operating officer
The British Olympic Association (BOA) has appointed Neil West as its first chief operating officer.
While West was performance director at England Hockey in 2004 and 2005, most of his business career has been spent in the oil industry. However, he had a successful sporting career himself.
In rowing, he represented Cambridge University at lightweight rowing and won a gold medal at the 2002 Commonwealth Rowing Championships. More recently he has been coach to lightweight squad athletes, including the GB eight at Lucerne, Switzerland 2004.
Simon Clegg, BOA chief executive said: “I am delighted that Neil is joining us at such a dynamic time in the evolution of the BOA. His experience and reputation will enhance our senior management team and help to achieve our business and performance objectives.
“The awarding of the 2012 Olympic Games to London continues to challenge the way we operate as an organisation and Neil’s appointment will allow us to function more effectively and serve the governing bodies and their athletes whom we represent.”
West will begin his role on 13 August this year.
