BTA promotes golfing guide
A Golf in Britain guide for overseas visitors has been launched by the British Tourist Authority (BTA) to position Britain as a preferred destination for the sport.
Sponsored by the De Vere Group of Hotels, the guide provides general information on location, contact details and estimated green fees for all 146 courses. BTA's Sports Tourism Manager, Grant Birse, said: The real attraction of playing golf in Britain is the variety , quality and accessibility of our courses. Golf is more than just a major attraction for visitors, it makes an important contribution to Britain's overall tourism income. The guide provides information on the facilities at each club including tuition details. It also links over 40 other websites.
To encourage visitors to explore more of the country when not enjoying a game, the guide offers pointers on touring and highlights 28 other attractions and places of interest. The guide is available in all BTA's 27 overseas markets and is supplemented by the BTA's sports tourism website: www.visitbritain.com/sport.
