Barnsley Premier Leisure signs up to Leisurewatch
Sports trust Barnsley Premier Leisure has joined the Leisurewatch scheme, which helps organisations recognise, assess and manage the risk of sex offenders.
Training has now been given to the majority of frontline staff at Barnsley Metrodome through a series of three-hour workshops.
A site audit has also been carried out to highlight the physical, design and security issues that enable potential offenders to operate more easily in the workplace.
Leisurewatch, which is developed and managed by The Derwent Initiative, provides the Metrodome with an official protocol to report concerns to the police. Mystery visitors will also follow up advice and support to check how the trust has implemented of the scheme.
James Starbuck, chief executive of Barnsley Premier Leisure, said: ”The scheme is a great idea, helping to protect the people of Barnsley and the users of the Metrodome.
“The Leisurewatch scheme is based around best practice and strengthens our child protection policies.”
