Baroness Ford to lead new 2012 legacy body
Baroness Ford has been appointed as chair of the newly-formed 2012 legacy delivery company, which will be responsible for ensuring Londoners get the most out of the Olympic Park after the 2012 Games.
It follows an agreement reached in January between the government and London mayor Boris Johnson, which will see the creation of a commercially driven and community focused company designed to maximise the lasting effects of the Games across a wide range of sectors. Formerly chair of English Partnerships between 2002-07, Baroness Ford will oversee the transfer of responsibilities from the London mayor's legacy advisory board to the new organisation.
Ford said: "Legacy was right at the heart of the London 2012 bid. This new company will provide a strong focus and drive to deliver a community and London-wide legacy that we can be proud of and build on the excellent work so far by London 2012 partners."
