Kitman Labs sport science company has partnered with Bath Rugby team to provide its high-end injury risk prevention technology to the Aviva Premiership Club.

The tech firm, with offices in Ireland and Silicon Valley, says it will use its injury risk prevention, biomechanical screening and athlete management system technology to help the club keep its athletes - nine of whom are in the England World Cup squad - in good health.

The solutions use advanced statistical analysis based on scientific research and experience, helping training staff manage and reduce the risk of injuries in athletes.

Each player has a tailored profile based on training data, giving insights and highlighting any likely sources of injury. The cutting-edge technology is designed to give staff the chance to intervene before damage occurs, with the aim of increasing player fitness and availability.

Kitman Labs founder and CEO Stephen Smith said: “We’re hard at work expanding the Kitman platform to the industries of football, baseball, American football, basketball and more, and it’s incredibly exciting to continue our growth in rugby.”

In addition to Bath, Kitman Labs now has agreements with all four professional Irish rugby clubs, the Irish national rugby team, Everton FC, and Major League Baseball’s Los Angeles Dodgers and Tampa Bay Rays.
