Billingham Forum set for June relaunch
Stockton Council and contractors Morgan Sindall have confirmed that Billingham Forum is on track to reopen its doors in June following an £18.5m revamp.
Work on the redevelopment of the leisure complex is due to be completed on 9 May, before operator Tees Active move on-site to prepare for the venue's relaunch. Facilities at the new-look Billingham Forum include a six-lane, 25m swimming pool and an additional training pool; revamped changing rooms; and upgraded spectator areas.
The gym has been extended to incorporate an additional 30 stations, taking the total number to 70, while a new dance studio and improved indoor bowls court is also to be provided. Elsewhere, Billingham Forum's ice rink will benefit from a new ice pad and improved areas for spectators, while exhibition space and a children's play barn will feature.
Stockton Council cabinet member for regeneration and transport Bob Cook said: "This major refurbishment is now on the final stretch. "The scheme has certainly been challenging but the council, along with Morgan Sindall and Tees Active, have and continue to, work closely together to ensure the refurbishment comes to fruition."
