Blackpool zoo win for Grant Leisure
Grant Leisure Group (GLG), part of the MICE Group, has won its bid to operate Blackpool Zoo.
GLG currently operates the Bournemouth Oceanarium and Aquarium of the Lakes on Lake Windermere through its operating subsidiary Real Live Leisure.
It takes over the running of the zoo from Blackpool council - the local authority in England to own, operate and licence a zoo - which realised that further investment could only come from the private sector.
GLG aims to transform the site into a top tourist destination by developing animal welfare facilities and adding themed attractions. Details: +44 (0)20 8607 1400
