Breast Cancer charity spinning day
Everyone will be in the pink at Newmarket Leisure Centre next week for a charity spinning event to raise money for breast cancer awareness.
The spinning event will begin at 9.30am on Sunday 18 October at Newmarket Leisure Centre. There will be three 45-minute sessions with a 15-minute break in between for those who intend to go for the max and do all three!
This is an annual, district-wide event led by instructors from Brandon, Mildenhall and Newmarket and people will be coming from all around Forest Heath.
The event has been opened up to 60 bikes and people can participate in as many sessions as they like. Non-members are also welcome but the one stipulation is that everyone must wear something pink!
Jo Gathercole, Health and Fitness Manager at Newmarket Leisure Centre, is co-ordinating the event: "We wanted to do our bit to help out during Breast Cancer Awareness month and our charity spinning events have always proved popular at each of our sites," she said.
"This one is going to be our biggest and best yet and it's bound to be a fantastic atmosphere with 60 cyclists pedaling hard to our simulated rides. We're guessing that, with all that exertion, it won't just be their clothes that are pink!"
Notice boards around the site have already been posted with facts and figures about breast cancer to help raise awareness as part of the month's campaign. To take part in the charity spin, people must phone the Newmarket Leisure Centre on 01638 782500 to book their place as they would with a normal class. The sessions cost £3 each and all the money will go directly to the charity.
Andy Killin, Leisure Facilities Manager, added: "We have had brilliant support from our members so far and look forward to another exciting spin!"
