Bromley Mytime aims to get kids P*H*I*T
A new partnership has been formed between leisure trust Bromley Mytime and Pro-Active South London to encourage young people in the area to become more active.
Pro-Active South London is one of 12 pilot County Sports Partnerships created to deliver the government’s target of getting young people active for at least five hours a week through PE and sports and physical activity outside school.
Jointly with Sport Engand, Pro-Active South London has provided £20,000 to fund programmes created by Bromley Mytime designed to interest the teen market, including Saturday Dance Mat Fever, Street Dance and a range of P*H*I*T (Physical Healthy Impact Training) activities – BoxP*H*I*T, StreetP*H*I*T, and P*H*I*TCycling – and well as P*H*ITGym.
Debbie Glazzard, connect manager for Bromley Mytime said: “Young people have been telling us they want more to do on Friday evenings and the weekends when they have more spare time to themselves.
“Increasingly they are also concerned to keep healthy and these activities are the ideal way to get in shape and have fun.
“It’s very hard for schools to pack more PE into their increasingly busy timetables and this scheme should offer teenagers more choice at a venue close to home.”
Each of the activities are offered as 10-week programmes between May and July and cost just £1 a week. Additional programmes are planned for September.
