Buildering a new shoe
New from The North Face is the Buildering shoe, created to give both a comfortable fit while hiking and a precision fit when scrambling up a rock face.
Exclusive Vibram sticky rubber outsoles provide a suction grip around the front of the sole - known as the edging zone - and gives the wearer excellent grip on rock faces. Midway along the sole, the hiking lugs made from durable trekking rubber provide stability for on and off trail walking.
Extra thickness in the heel is designed to prevent premature wear and keep the shoes in top condition longer and a thick rubber band around the toe protects it against rock abrasion while giving additional grip when climbing.
Inside the Buildering, the AgION anti-bacterial insole and lining is claimed to control the growth of bacteria and odours, ensuring fresh smelling feet even after a hard day's activities.
Finally, the Lace-to-Toe lacing allows specific areas to tighten, depending on the activity. A loose fit around the toes gives them more movement when hiking, a tighter fit secures the shoe in place when a more technical footing is needed.
