Cadbury to sponsor London 2012
Organisers of the London 2012 Olympics have announced that the confectionary company, Cadbury, has become an official sponsor of the Games.
The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) has signed a deal with the Birmingham-based company, which will see it become a Tier Two supporter of the event. As a result of the agreement, Cadbury will be the official supplier of confectionary and ice cream at the 2012 Games, as well as being given rights to use the London 2012 logo in its marketing.
Paul Deighton, chief executive of LOCOG, said: "This is another fantastic achievement for the commercial programme, and with this deal we have now raised over £430m, which is well on our way towards our domestic sponsorship target as part of the £2bn required to stage the Games in 2012." LOCOG has already struck deals with seven Tier One partners and one other Tier Two partner, while a number of Worldwide Olympic Partners for 2012 have also been confirmed.
